I am a big fan of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The film was groundbreaking in its accurate depiction of the cold vacuum and loneliness of space. The film's special effects set the bar for realism expected by viewers in sci-fi films that followed it.
During my search efforts to embellish my Saturn V build, I ran across a fabulous rendition of the HAL 9000 interface that looked quite realistic and was simple to build. I decided to build the model and adorn the back of one of my monitors at work to help keep an "eye" on things. I love the realistic 3-D look!
